Upon invitation of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy Mr. Etienne Schneider, the Minister of the Economy of the United Arab Emirates H.E. Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri visited Luxembourg on April 19. On this occasion, he was accompanied by a delegation of high-level officials from the Ministry of the Economy, the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Dubai and the UAE Space Agency.
Luxembourg and the UAE have strong and longstanding relations in the political, economic and financial fields while numerous official visits from both sides have developed into a deep partnership.
During the visit, the ministers discussed ways to reinforce the economic and technical cooperation between the two countries with a view to further explore mutually beneficial opportunities in various sectors i.e. logistics, tourism and space. Luxembourg and the UAE have recently signed a MoU of cooperation in the space sector to support exchange of expertise and technologies and develop common space research projects.
A highlight of the excellent bilateral cooperation between Luxembourg and the UAE will be the participation of Luxembourg in the Expo 2020 Dubai where more than 25 millions of visitors from around the world are expected. Luxembourg is among the first countries to sign the participation agreement and the first to hold a ground-breaking ceremony on its plot.
During his stay, H.E. Al Mansouri also met with representatives of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce. He visited the Luxembourg Freeport as well as the Luxembourg satellite company SES.
